REproducts: REplate and REcups
Decorated porcelain (industrial forms), 2007 / unique objects, limited edition
‘REplate’ and ‘REcup’ are series of plates, vessels, cups and mugs that intend to be defective because of small technological imperfections (deformations, bursting, scratches, discolorations, etc.). The decoration is made of waste elements of ceramic decal as samplers and extracts of text information. This procedure gives porcelain unique looks, but most of all connects with the REcycling process and by this way influences on the ecological consciousness of the recipient. On the one hand it is a proposition for recycling the industrial waste (appearing in huge amounts) and finding the creative potential in them. On the other hand it makes consumers more sensitive about ‘waste’ problem in our culture and forces them to reflect where the nowadays’ model of consumerism leads.
In this project all the imperfections (from the industrial point of view) are getting additional values and they are becoming a significant element of decoration. Careful observer will find in them inter alia word game, irony, nonsense, provocation and defiance…
